STUDENT INTERVIEWING PROCEDURES
Submitting Resumes to Interviewing Employers
The window when resumes may be submitted to Interviewing Employers for their consideration is December 15, 2008 (noon, CST) to January 9, 2009 (noon, CST).
- Submit your resume to interviewing employers by first uploading it to your MPILCC Symplicity account (under Profile tab; then Documents) and then entering your employer selections (under the MPILCC Interviewing tab) at https://law-mpilcc-csm.symplicity.com . YOU ARE PERMITTED TO SELECT UP TO 18 EMPLOYERS (you will need to rank employers you select on the Symplicity bid page, but the numbers are meaningless)
- This is a pre-screened interview process. You will only be scheduled for an interview if the employer has selected you.
- If you miss this window, you will not be considered by these employers in advance of the conference. (You may still try to get an interview through the lottery process on the conference day).
Viewing Your Interview Schedule
- If you are selected for an interview by an employer, you will be able to see your interview by logging onto https://;law-mpilcc-csm@symplicity.com. Students who were not selected for interviews will not see any interview assignments under their Profile/Interview/Scheduled Interviews tab.
- Students selected as an alternate for an employer can see their alternate status under the Interview/Bids tab)
- Assigned interviews and Alternate status information will be available online on January 23, 2009 at noon, CST.
Alternate Selection
- Employers have the option of designating student "alternates" who may be added to their schedule if a slot opens due to a student cancellation.
- Go to the Employers/Bidding tab under MPILCC Interviewing to see if you were selected as an alternate.
- If you remain on the alternate list for an employer, you may accept the invitation to interview if there are slots open on the schedule after the cancellation period (described below) has concluded for pre-selected students. This occurs during the Alternate Sign-Up period, and your chances of getting on the schedule are increased the sooner you visit the Symplicity cite to accept alternate status for an employer (limited to one alternate accepatance) once the aternate sign up period begins. If open slots remain on the schedule, then a button will appear asking you to accept your alternate invitation. Once all the slots have been filled with alternates for any employer, the button will no longer appear for any alternate and the schedule is closed.
- The Alternate Sign Up Period begins at 12:30 p.m., c.s.t. (Chicago time) on January 28, 2009 and concludes at 6:00 p.m. that same day. Realistically, virtually all open slots are filled in within the first half hour of the opening of this period. YOU WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED ONE SIGN UP AS AN ALTERNATE during the Alternate Sign-Up period..
- A special time scheduler run will occur upon the conclusion of the Alternate Sign-Up period. Students who accepted their alternate status may then return to the Symplicity system to find out what interview time they were assigned. An e-mail verification containing the interview time will be sent on January 29, 2008 to students alternates who added themselves to the schedule.
Cancellations Policy for Interviewees & Alternates
- If you wish to be dropped as an interviewee:
- You may cancel directly from the Symplicity system by going to the Employers/Bidding tab under MPILCC Interviews and then clicking the interview date, and then the cancellation button on the far right side of the page. You may also go to to the Scheduled Interviews tab under MPILCC Interviewing and cancel there. You may do so only during the Cancellation Period which opens immediately after the schedule assignments have been released to the students.
- If need be, you may send an e-mail to p-woo1@uchicago.edu and advise him of your decision to cancel by January 28, 2009, 12:00 (noon, CST). Put "MPILCC Interview Cancellation" in the subject line, and in the body of the e-mail tell him which employer(s) interview(s) you are canceling
- If you wish to be dropped as an alternate interviewee
- You can decline your alternate status by deleting the bid you placed for the employer who selected you (under the Employer/Bidding tab). Click on the interview date for the employer, then delete the bid.
- You may also sSend an e-mail to p-woo1@uchicago.edu and advise him of your decision by January 28, 2009, 12:00 (noon, CST) .
- Put "MPILCC Alternate Cancellation" in the subject line, and in the body of the e-mail tell us which employer(s) you are dropping as an interview alternate.
- We will confirm your cancellation with an e-mail reply. If you do not receive a confirming cancellation within a few hours, please resend the cancellation e-mail.
